As the premier Desert Surf Club. Ready with a mission to promote, educate and enjoy all the surfing possibilities that wave pools bring to the inland.
Wave pools with state-of-the-art wave generating technology are opening soon. Perfect swells, curls and pipes will be on demand so you can shred the desert day and night.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
President - Dave Hilts
Our non-profit club is the vision of long-time surfer Dave Hilts. Intrigued by the advancements in wave pool technology and stoked that that waves are coming to Coachella Valley, Dave conceived of the club as an organization to promote and educate a new community of surfers of all ages and abilities.
Dave is no stranger to waves. He grew up in Huntington Beach, and now resides in Palm Desert and Oceanside. He has worked in the sports and surfing industry his whole career and founded the successful PaddleAir, Inc.
The Coachella Valley Surf Club promises to be the premier surf organization for surfing the desert.
Vice President - Krysten Gonda
Krysten Gonda teaches high school in the eastern Coachella Valley. In 2021, she was selected as a Riverside County Teacher of the Year partly due to her efforts working with her students to help them engage with surf culture. In 2018, she launched a surf club at Desert Mirage High School. With the help of the Coachella Valley Surf Club, she is able to regularly take groups of underserved students to the beach to learn how to surf. While not a skilled surfer, Krysten is an avid surf enthusiast. She enjoys traveling the world with her family during the summer and school holidays seeking out new surf experiences.
